I like to blog. I also like to collect blogs. I have been telling myself “No More Blogs!” But today I started a new blog. (You can see it here.) The reason I started yet another blog, is that with this new one, I know I’ll earn some money. Money is good. It pays for hosting and domains. The new blog is with Today.com. You start a blog with them, and they promise to pay you $1 for every post you make for the first month. The post must have at least 100 words, and they only pay for one post per day. But I figure there is another 27 days in December, so I know I can earn $27. After the first month, your payout can go up or down, depending on the quality of your blog and how much traffic you are getting.

I gave some thought as to what I wanted the topic of my new blog to be. I decided to do free blog reviews. Bloggers like to have their blogs reviewed. I like to review blogs. Sounds like a match! So the new blog is <del datetime="2008-12-13T21:00:16+00:00">Best Blog Reviews</del>Review Me Today. If you would like me to review your blog for free, just go over to my new blog and leave a comment. I’ll write your review and then you can show it off to all your friends!

Better yet, why don’t you start a new blog at Today by clicking on that flashing banner. That will make me happy, because, once you have a blog with Today, they have a pretty nice affiliate program! It will make you happy, because you know you will make some money! Then, once you have a few posts, get your blog reviewed by <del datetime="2008-12-13T21:01:10+00:00">Best Blog Reviews</del> Review Me Today! You will get more traffic, which will help you earn more money.

If you start a new blog with today, leave a comment here and let me know the URL. I’ll make sure to visit your blog and leave a comment with you.

I, like many bloggers, have more than one blog. I also don’t spend enough time updating my blogs, so most of the time I feel guilty if I sit down at my computer and don’t write a blog post for at least one of my blogs.

So now I find myself in a funny position. I have a couple of domains that I got for free. When it comes to blogging, I really like setting things up. So I installed WordPress on both the domains, found great looking themes for both of them. Installed the important plug-ins, etc. Now all that is left is to add some content.

That is where I stopped. So I have these two domains with very nice looking, very empty blogs on them.

What to do? Sell the domains, or even give them away?

Beg someone else to write for them.

Or, even write something myself? Taking time away from my other, more established blogs?

The empty blogs are Lazy Food and Baby Care News. What would you do with them?

I took a nice long walk today and spent my walking time thinking about why I have such a hard time writing regularly for my blogs. I have plenty of ideas, and plenty of time. I decided the reason was I struggle to write posts that I think are a decent length. Like 250 words or longer. Then I realized my posts can be any length I want! Plus, maybe short posts are better. After all, everyone seems to be all aflutter over twitter and that is all about super short posts.

So what do you think, mini (under 100 words), short (100 – 200 words), medium (200 – 500), or long (over 500)? Which is better?

…And I’m Not Coming Back!

Normally I try to stay on the positive side of things. There are plenty of bloggers ranting out there! But today, I don’t know, I’m in a mood, and I just can’t hold it in anymore. Today I am ranting! Here is why I HATE YOUR BLOG!
You have any type of auto play audio.
I don’t care if it your favorite song ever, or if you think it adds to the “ambiance” of your site. I don’t like it. I have my own music, or more likely, I like it quiet. If you have those audio ads on your site that’s even worse. The minute I hear something coming from your site I am jumping for the back button. Hopefully, never to return.

You have “sexy” pictures on your site. And I don’t mean sexy in a good way. I don’t care how good your content is, if I have to look at boobs and butts I’m not staying. Number One. I’m not a 14 year old boy. Those pictures just don’t do anything for me. (And if that is your ad, there is no way I’m going to click on it!) Number Two. I have kids, and parents, and a husband. If they happen to see what I’m reading on my computer I don’t want to have to do any explaining about how those are only ads for other sites, and really, I just read it for the articles.

You try to trick me to click on your ads I hate being tricked. It also tells me that there is no reason to believe anything you write so why should I visit your site?

OK, I know I said 3, but I have one more, a bonus rant if you will.
I can’t find your content for all the ads. I understand making money. I have ads. Ads are great! But if everything above the fold is ads, why should I keep going? And don’t annoy me with flashing, neon colored ads. They give me a headache.

Wow, That was fun! Maybe I’ll do a rant of the week! But enough is enough. What do you hate about my blog?

Do you spend more time reading about blogging than you do actually blogging? I certainly do, I am always looking for the great tip that will make my blog incredibly successful and profitable! Most of what I find out in the vast Internet is a rehash of old information. Recently I was pleased to find a blog about blogging that provides great advice that actually inspires me to get working on my blog!

NorthxEast presents an article a week on subjects of interest to bloggers. The writing is excellent, clear and to the point, while providing information that is truly useful.

This weeks article is on the Top 10 Habits of Successful Bloggers. There are some that we have all heard of before, like #3, They Blog Like Clockwork. (where I need to focus!), but also habits that were new to me, such as #1 They’re Super Efficient eMailers.

NorthxEast has gone into my bookmarks, as a blog I will be stopping by at least weekly to catch up on the latest advice on successful blogging.
