It may be called the Christmas Season, or the Holiday Season, but I think it really is the Eating Season! More than any other time of the year, food seems to be a focus for the next 6 weeks. Here are some ideas that have helped me to keep eating healthy (mostly!) during the holiday season.
I am trying something new today. I have been seeing the BlogRush widget on websites I have been visiting, and I finally decided to sign up. BlogRush shows links to your posts on other websites. Here is a better explanation from the BlogRush site:
BlogRush is a free service that was created to help bloggers solve their #1 need:

May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!
I was talking to a friend about how I was trying to be more “aware” in my food choices. I have been trying to eat locally produced food whenever possible. I also try to eat organic food, with the least amount of processing and packaging. My friend said, “Don’t you thing that is a bit elitist?” What?????? Where did that come from. How could it be elitist? Continue reading “Eating Local is Elitist?”
Here is a great way to do some good and get something cool for yourself. Give an XO Laptop and get one for yourself!
Give One Get One
Between November 12 and November 26, OLPC is offering a Give One Get One program in the United States and Canada. This is the first time the revolutionary XO laptop has been made available to the general public. For a donation of $399, one XO laptop will be sent to empower a child in a developing nation and one will be sent to the child in your life in recognition of your contribution. $200 of your donation is tax-deductible (your $399 donation minus the fair market value of the XO laptop you will be receiving).
For all U.S. donors who participate in the Give One Get One program, T-Mobile is offering one year of complimentary HotSpot access. Find out more.
Please be aware that we will make every effort to deliver the XO laptops by the holidays, but quantities are limited. Early purchasers have the best chance of receiving their XO laptops in time for the holidays, but we cannot guarantee timing.
